Breast Augmentation with Breast Lift
Breast augmentation and breast lift can be used together to simultaneously improve the size and shape of your breasts. Breast augmentation mostly increases the size of your breasts, but may also provide some lifting. Breast lift is the best way to improve the shape of sagging breasts, but cannot address lost volume that contributes to sagging. Together, the two procedures address the most common concerns women have about the appearance of their breasts.
This page contains some basic information on combining a breast augmentation and breast lift, but it cannot tell you whether this combination is right for you. The best way to determine whether a breast augmentation with breast lift is the best procedure for you is through a consultation with board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Antonio J. Gayoso, who will evaluate the condition of your tissues in comparison with your cosmetic goals to help you find the best procedure for you. When Breast Augmentation is Not Enough
Breast augmentation uses breast implants to increase the size of your breasts. It can also address minor sagging, especially when this sagging is due in whole or in large part to a loss of volume in the breasts after pregnancy or significant weight loss. However, breast implants cannot address:
- Significant sagging in the breasts
- Excess skin
- Poor skin condition
- Downward-pointing nipples
If you have these characteristics of sagging breasts, you may need a lift.
When a Breast Lift is Not Enough
A breast lift surgically removes excess skin and reshapes the breast mound while elevating the nipples to give the breasts a more youthful position and shape. However, a breast lift cannot increase the size of your breasts. They may even look smaller because they are more compact. If you want to increase the size of your breasts or restore volume lost due to weight loss or pregnancy, a combination of breast augmentation and breast lift is necessary. A breast lift also cannot give you fullness in the upper part of the breast—this requires breast implants.
