What does a brow lift treat?

A brow lift is used to treat several visible signs of aging in the forehead, including:

  • Horizontal wrinkles in the forehead
  • Glabellar lines (horizontal and vertical wrinkles in the region between the brows)
  • Sagging of the forehead

If people are constantly saying you look tired or angry, no matter how well-rested or how good you feel, a brow lift may be able help you get the refreshed, relaxed appearance you used to have.

Is a brow lift for me?

A brow lift is one of several procedures available to rejuvenate the forehead area. If you have significant sagging of the forehead, a brow lift is the right procedure for you. However, some of the other signs of aging in the forehead area, such as wrinkling or a tired, angry appearance, might be better addressed with other treatments. For wrinkling in the forehead area, BOTOX® Cosmetic injections work very well, while sagging eyelids can be corrected with eyelid surgery.

What is the brow lift procedure like?

There are several different types of brow lift procedures available. Which one is right for you depends on the degree of your facial aging and your anatomy. Tampa facial plastic surgeon, Dr. Antonio J. Gayoso most commonly recommends the endoscopic brow lift, which uses a number of small incisions above the hairline.

In an endoscopic brow lift, small instruments are inserted through the incisions above the hairline, which may number from three to seven, depending on the amount and type of lifting you need. The brow is smoothed, lifted, and affixed in its raised position.

Will a brow lift make me look surprised or affect my ability to move my forehead?

No. A brow lift elevates your forehead by a moderate amount to give you a more youthful, refreshed appearance, but the results are designed to be subtle and natural. The arched, surprised results you might have seen are the result of either older techniques or overzealous surgeons. You can see some of Dr. Gayoso’s brow lift results in our Before and After Gallery.

The forehead is affixed to prevent sagging, not to prevent it from moving. You will still be able to move your forehead normally after your brow lift procedure.

What is recovery from a brow lift painful? How long does recovery take?

As with any surgery, you will experience some minor discomfort during the recovery from your brow lift, which can be controlled with medication. More often, people complain of itchiness. You may experience some swelling. Bruising is not common and if it occurs is generally minor. Expect to take one week off from work, and be completely recovered within three weeks.

Why should I choose Dr. Gayoso for my brow lift?
