It’s just about that time. New year, new you! As we reach the end of 2019, we are sadly reminded of the resolutions we did not stick with throughout this year. However, this isn’t just the start of a new year, it’s the start of a new decade! A celebration this big should be complemented by big goals. But how do you draw out a plan, start the process, or even stick to it? Here are some strategies to help establish a new routine.

Let’s begin with a pat on the back. By deciding to make a New Years resolution you are automatically 10 times more likely to change your behavior than those that do not set a goal. Congratulations! With this kind of momentum, you’re bound to achieve great things!

Don’t stop there! Picking the right goal for you is imperative. Choosing a specific and realistic goal with focus allows you to keep your eye on the prize. For example, instead of saying “I’m going to lose weight”, you might commit to losing a more manageable amount of weight, 10-15lbs. You could also choose to train for a specific event to help reach your target. The key is staying motivated without feeling overwhelmed.

To help with your success, start with picking one resolution. For example, you wouldn’t try to save money for your Euro trip while at the same time try to save for a trip to Thailand. It would take twice as long. Establishing a new behavior takes time so try sticking with one goal and dedicate yourself to it. You’ll find yourself seeing more successes.

Remember to keep your resolution detailed. Try writing out small specific steps to accomplish along the way. Maybe the goal is to run a marathon. Start by training for a 5k and participate in a local event with friends. Become successful in finishing the race. Then, move on to a 10k, half marathon and so forth. By breaking down your goal into smaller pieces you can see forward progression and more likely keep it up.

The new decade will bring on big things for you, we just know it. It’s never too early to start planning for Jan. 1 ‘New Year, New You’. Before things get crazy with the holidays, take some time to really focus on yourself and your personal goals. Don’t forget, we’re always here to help with goals that might involve getting into shape (either with Coolsculpting, liposuction or even a tummy tuck). In 2020, we will be offering CoolTone, a non-surgical procedure that tones and firms! We’ve been excited about this new technology for quite some time and are thrilled that we have this new tool for 2020 goals.
