The ”Miracle” of Plastic Surgery
We struggled to title our blog post and finally chose a title that is eye catching but not entirely accurate. There is no miracle in plastic surgery. Results are rarely, if ever, overnight successes. In fact, plastic surgery and the healing process is a journey; a fluid, ever changing process that often requires patience on the part of the patient and continued support from the provider and their team. This is the part we enjoy the most: walking with you during the healing process, gently holding your hand and helping you until you are fully healed.
As a full service plastic surgery practice, we offer a variety of procedures that can help you look and feel your best. We understand that plastic surgery is not always the answer and it is our job (and duty, really) to help educate not only those patients who are candidates for plastic surgery, but also those patients who are not. It is not uncommon for Dr. Gayoso, Jessica McCarry, PA-C and our Coolsculpting team (Gina and Clare) to assess a patient and determine that they are not a candidate for the procedure they were interested in. Sometimes we can offer a more effective option. That’s the beauty of being a full service practice: we have several options for most of the concerns that patients present to us. The old adage: ‘if all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail’ certainly does not apply to us. For example, something as simple as not liking how your skin looks or feels is a common concern. We have a wonderful skin care line called SkinMedica™ that can get your skin into great health, improving not only how your skin looks, but how it feels. In additional to a great skincare line, we offer multiple options with our state of art Sciton™ laser. More concerned about wrinkles and hollows in your skin or face? The Alllergan™ line of Juverderm® (Juvederm XC®, Volbella®, Vollure®, Voluma® )products is the best there is. Jessica McCarry, our talented physician assistant, tailors her treatment to your aesthetic goals and needs.
Body contouring is another great example. Many of us have excess fat that we would love to be rid of. We offer several options to reduce fat permanently, either surgically or non-surgically. For those patients that want to avoid surgery ( perhaps they can’t take time off of work, don’t want to undergo anesthesia, or even wish to keep their procedures confidential and not inform their spouse or loved ones): Coolsculpting™ is a great solution. This in office non-surgical procedure freezes fat permanently. Approved in 2010 by the FDA, there have been more than 8 million Coolsculpting procedures performed worldwide, a testament to its efficacy. CoolSculpting provides a long-lasting reduction of unwanted bulges by freezing fat cells until they break down, a process called cryolipolysis. This natural process of breaking down fat occurs over 1-4 months. For those patients looking for a more aggressive fat reducing procedure and are willing to undergo surgery, then liposuction and/or tummy tuck surgery may be great options. Our job is to listen to your concerns and help guide you to the best procedure for you. It’s what we do. It’s what we love to do.
